In the meantime, the Conductor reveals his true alliance by murdering Alina's decoy.Īfter the show, Kirigan takes her to his study, where the things quickly steam up and the two seem to be getting closer.until they are interrupted by a guard alerting them of the Conductor, and his 'attempted murder' of Alina. ![]() Inej in particular is completely entranced by Alina's abilities, believing that she is watching a real-life saint: Sanka Alina. While Alina is performing, the Crows standby, watching. After finally feeling like she has been accepted into a community and has found a purpose, Alina starts to move forward in her new world. While she prepares for her presentation at the winter fete, she decides to ditch her kefta coat for the appropriate regalia. However, he instead bumps into Kirigan, who clearly has something malicious hidden up his sleeve. The drawings are a physical manifestation of her dreams, in which she has seen the creature. Little does she know that Mal has actually volunteered for an expedition to find Morozova's stag, which is based on drawings that Alina herself created. Mysterious.īecause of this, Alina grows to believe that Mal has forgotten all about his friend. The two exchange letters, which never wind up being received by the other. When she arrives at the Little Palace to begin her training as a Grisha, she quickly misses Mal. As leader of the Second Army, he becomes attached to Alina and her magnificent powers, requesting to have an audience with her. General Kirigan winds up with an important role to play in this adventure. They quickly devise a plan to disguise themselves as a troupe of performers in order to break in during the winter fete. Once they cross the Fold, they break into the royal archives and steal blueprints for the Little Palace. Heartrender Nina also joins them, though she is suddenly kidnapped by witch hunters, and chained to the bottom of a ship with a guard known as Matthias Helvar. With the help of the Conductor, the Crows sneak past the shadow monsters and make their way towards Alina. But plot twist: their mission involves trekking the Fold and bringing back the Sun Summoner. When the Crows catch wind of a new heist that'll earn them a handsome sum, they accept. We were also introduced to Crows of Ketterdam in season one, a gang headed by Kaz Brekker, and includes knife-wielding Inej and gunslinger Jesper Fahey. Yikes, and we thought we had too much responsibility. So what does this mean for Alina? Well, this suggests that she might be the legendary Sun Summoner, who is supposedly the key to destroying the Shadow Fold and end the ongoing war. With this new revelation, Alina discovers that she inhibits a secret Grisha power. However, when their boat is promptly attacked by shadow monsters known as volcra, Alina defends Mal with a previously unknown power, with light bursting from her figure. So when Mal is called to go on a supply run in the Shadow Fold, Alina decides to join him on his mission. An outsider by nature, Mal is her only friend. Intense stuff.Īt the beginning of season one, Alina is searching for a purpose. It's here that they meet General Kirigan, known as the Darkling, and who happens to be a Shadow Summoner. ![]()
